Soracom, Inc. (TSE: 147A), a cloud-native IoT platform providing connectivity, cloud integration, and AI services for the Internet of Things, today announced that Omdia has named Soracom a Leader in the 2026 Omdia Market Radar: IoT MVNOs report. In Omdia’s 2025 Market Radar, Soracom was positioned as a Challenger. In the 2026 edition, Omdia observes the company had “an impressive 2025, catapulting it into the leaders’ quadrant.”

Omdia narrowed a field of more than 25 IoT MVNOs to the ten it identified as key vendors, then scored those vendors across nine capability areas, from market traction and device hardware to core network, security, and innovation. Omdia rates each vendor’s capability in each area as Advanced, Broad, Functional, or Partial. Soracom was the only vendor that achieved the Advanced rating, Omdia’s highest, in both connectivity and core network.

Omdia’s assessment of Soracom’s core network recognizes an architectural decision the company made at launch. “Soracom has its own fully virtualized core network that has been running on the AWS Cloud since 2015,” the report states. “The Soracom platform decouples logic and state data from cellular network elements such as PGW and HSS and implements most of that logic in microservices. This architecture lets Soracom maximize operational efficiency and resilience, especially compared to either a traditional data center or a virtualized, non-cloud-based core.”

The report also highlights Soracom’s commercial model and its pace of innovation. Omdia notes that Soracom’s services “operate on a pay-per-use basis, resembling cloud provider models rather than the typical out-of-the-box prepaid and postpaid structures” offered by IoT MVNOs and MNOs, and credits the company with strong customer retention and growth. On innovation, Omdia describes Soracom as “arguably the most AI-forward IoT MVNO,” adding that its “ability to blend AI into an IoT framework is impressive, and its speed to market demonstrates that the company is a highly agile technology player.”

“When we built Soracom’s core network as software running in the public cloud in 2015, the prevailing view was that a carrier core belonged in a data center. Omdia’s evaluation recognizes what that decision makes possible: a connectivity platform that operates like scalable, continuously evolving cloud infrastructure, with pricing based on actual use and a release cycle designed so that even devices already in the field can take advantage of new AI capabilities as they emerge. We intend to maintain that technology leadership by making things happen for the companies building the connected world,” said Kenta Yasukawa, CTO and Co-Founder of Soracom.

The platform has continued to evolve since research closed. Soracom Connectivity Hypervisor, the platform’s SGP.32-compatible eSIM orchestration service, reached general availability in July 2026, alongside new releases in identity, voice, automotive, and AI. Soracom has been publicly traded on the Tokyo Stock Exchange since 2024 and has reported six consecutive years of profitable operation.

The 2026 Omdia Market Radar: IoT MVNOs was published on April 24, 2026, and authored by John Canali, Andrew Brown, and Alexander Thompson. For Omdia’s full evaluation of Soracom, visit https://soracom.io/omdia-market-radar-2026.
